Six Weeks

Six weeks. Six weeks without work or obligation. Six weeks with nothing but my own whims and desires to guide me.

I’ll admit it’s already been a bit weird. After all the hustle and bustle of wrapping up work, packing, cleaning, and then getting up to Seattle to catch our plane I was in a bit of a daze once we settled into the airport. I sat there thinking of the next thing I needed to do... and realized there was nothing. There was absolutely nothing I HAD to do. So I thought through what I COULD do.

Read. Listen to music. Write. Plan something to do later. But I really didn’t WANT to do any of that. So I sat there. I sat and watched the people around me and let myself soak in doing absolutely nada for the first time in a long time. It was weird.

Our flight was uneventful and we are now in Richmond, England. It’s adorable and quaint and everything I could want in a home base. We took the day mostly easy but explored a bit and settled into the reality of being away from home for the longest trip we’ve ever taken. We are a bit anxious about the whole thing but also so very excited.

Cheers to the next six weeks of adventure!

Just a couple quick photos we snapped while wandering through the city.

Also, fun fact! Our hotel (see above) is older than the United States. I think that kind of thing will always boggle my mind.
